FDA Ban on Powdered Gloves

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a final rule on December 19, 2016, banning the use of most powdered medical gloves due to mounting evident that powder can cause harm to both patients and clinicians (e.g., respiratory allergic reactions, wound inflammation, post-surgical adhesion). The effective date of the ban is January 18, 2017 and applies to impacted gloves already in commercial distribution and already sold to the ultimate end-user, as well as to gloves that would be sold or distributed in the future.This is only the second time in history the FDA has banned a medical device from the marketplace.
